Exercise has always been a part of my life. In the past I have done everything from at home videos, to being a member at a big box gym, to outside activities such as running. I have been a member at the Orange Shoe Gym since it opened its doors December 2004. The classes have provided a fitness outlet I have never experienced, while the members have provided support, motivation, and a sense of community unlike any other.
My journey with personal training began in November 2005, ten months prior to my wedding. My overall goal at that time was to tone and define my body for my wedding day. I was training a three times a week with a Personal Trainer while continuing to attend classes at the gym. Within the first few sessions I could feel the impact of personal training. My ability to complete exercises had increased, as well as my overall strength.
In the following weeks and months there was a noticeable shift in my physical appearance not only to myself, but to family members, co-workers and other gym members. Along with the muscle tone and definition, I also noticed an increase in my endurance and overall fitness levels. Consequently, it all led to a complete shift in my approach to my lifestyle and fitness.
The completion of the wedding didn't stop my committment to myself or my training. I have continued with personal training, setting and achieving new goals along the way. I really enjoy the one-on-one experience of personal training. My trainer reminds me of my goals, motivates me on the days when I'm tired and teaches me how to have confidence in myself and my abilities. While personal training definitely achieved my physical goals for my wedding it was just the beginning. The other benefits of personal training were unexpected, but will remain with me for life. Those include incorporating fitness and overall well-being into my lifestyle, how to focus mentally and use working out as an outlet to achieve balance in life, and learning to set and achieve goals.
